Choli Pattern

Back          Front

Front Panel - Cut 2

Front Panel (note: for extra strength double the front panels)

straight side - shoulder to under bust.

top - top of shoulder

bottom - underarm to underarm

short side - 2 to 3"

diagonal side - connect the two short sides.

Sleeve - Cut 2

A rectangle which is the length of half of the arm from the shoulder point by double the straight side length (above) minus 5".

Under Arm - Cut 4

(note: this is not to scale)

long side - 5"

short side - 3"

bottom - this is half of the distance from the front panel to the back straps

diagonal side - connect the points

Back Straps - Cut 2

The length of the front straight side by the front top.

Gusset - Cut 2

A 5" square.

Apron - Cut one

This is optional but I use it. It is the width of the front panel, in the length it runs to about an inch below the waist.

Ties - Cut one to the under bust measurement plus enough to tie easily. Cut two approximately 18" long. The width of these is determined by personal choice, but I have found the they are much stronger if cut double wide and sewn closed.

This pattern will take approximately 1 to 1 1/4 yards of 45" wide fabric if you use the apron version.

Construction:

Attach the back straps the front panels. Finish the long edges, and over lap the front panels as shown in the drawing of the front. Sew the under arms together on the short sides. Attach the gussets to the under arms, they should fit in the angled opening at the top of the piece.

Sew the sleeves to the under arm/gusset combination. Attach the sleeve unit to the front/ back panels. Attach the apron if you are using it. From the inside, centre the long tie to the bottom of the choli, attach. Try on garment, position the top ties and attach.
